acjc band riverboat dinner

Hold on before I go on... this is what happened today... 5th sept... at acsi when we were moving things...
Muhaahha... Manfred in a pile of stands. So freaking retardedly farnie. XD

It was a nice dinner. nice pasta. bad piano playing. gambling den. photo taking opportunities that come with nice background scenes. It all happened on monday night, 3th sept.
I will let the pictures do the talking.

CLARINETS ROX!

Where is Aaron?
Dr Lee. haha. The band gave him a special dish. It's on the left. Expensive and nice steak. He let us eat some cos he cannot finish. The one on the right is what everyone else ate.

csi - 'the real search'

WARNING: VERY VERY LONG POST!

CSI: The Real Search on the 31 to 1 sept was fun. haha. made new friends and stayed up till 4.30am. I know I'm wols but it was so memorable, and I can remember it vividly till now.

the thing started at 10.30pm at the Home Team Academy in dunno where in Singapore (Lim Chu Kang?? near the cemetery) it was supposed to stop at 3.00am but no team managed to solve the crime on time so it was dragged on. so anyway, At 10.30pm, we received the quiz. we chiong thru it quickly. den left for the first crime scene at the park at blk 12.

haha. it looked like a real crime scene with blood and stuff left behind. except that my group was the forensic team. soo cool. so we took the blood samples and took pictures and seized the articles on the floor like the slipper and handfone and the bench. we also did fingerprinting.

we den went to the second scene. the fight at the road near the range. on the way, we ran and i slipped on the slippery mud and luckily kept balance but janice fell but lucky no wound. the at the scene, at first look, it was very dark, almost cannot see anything. we found another side the same slipper, a tissue with blood, bloody gloves and one big big big bloood splat on the floor. yeah we did the usual. i tot it was a hit and run case cos there were water trails on the road but i later realised its not included in the scene, very paiseh. we damn sad, dunno why no find the knife in the gutter/drain. acjc team 1 also did not find. (yeah, i'm team 2)

the last scene. the stadium. we saw 'dead' people. no la. they acting only. the dead was ah hwee. of cos a lot of blood everywhere. his body got a big slash on the back, and stab wounds on the stomach.

then we went back to the forensics lab and handed up the stuff. den we waited and waited. den we got back the results. and an additional report to see ah teng, the girlfriend of ah hwee near the canteen/cafeteria.

we interviewed ah teng. she like of not much help. sian. we only noe that there was a love triangle between ahteng, ah hwee and ah seng. ah seng is third party that ah teng dun like. and ah teng is chio bu. no kidding haha. (point to note: the key question we were supposed to ask was not asked. 'where does ah seng live?' but seriously, we asked about ah seng's whereabouts but she said she dunno... stupid woman, at least have the intiative to tell us where you think he is la! she act like dunno anything abt the bf, 6 months already u noe. really stupid chiobu.)

We were lost after this. dunno where to go. we sat down and discussed for long long time. no results lah of cos. we still lost. when we wanted to go to the forensics lab, we saw a team running towards another direction. we followed them haha.

we were lead to ah chong's mother's house. we dunno which part of the story where we in. so we just interviewed her and searched her house. this time, we tyco tyco ask her where ah chong worked. she said at the laundry at the blk nearby. when we searched her house, there was 1 picture, the man in spectacles we were looking for. she said it was ah hua, her other son. at this point, we dunno how this woman and 2 other men came into the story.

we went to the laundry and there was 1 woman sitting there. we were so lost we did not manage to ask the key question. until now, i still dunno the question la. i dun care anyway ,not impt.

i secretly called darren, who was in the other team. apparently, they had seized a computer already from block 22. this was where we were supposed to go if we had asked ah teng the right question. sian la.

so we chiong there. but the men in charge of that area said closed liao. we gg le. we went back to harmony hall and we were the first team to arrive anyway. no points for that haha.

darren's team or team 1 arrived later. here's their story: they seized the com from ah seng's big big house. they went to the cyber dunnowhat lab and were instructed to go the ah chong's mother's house after getting the results back and they oso got an email report full of ah hua. then blah blah blah...they found out where ah chong/ah hua lived... ah chong was there. then the team figured out that they were twins. then they nabbed ah hua at the grandstand.

our team, sadly, had no evidence for any of these. so we fabricated a story with the little evidence we have. so we discussed a bit. den we let nat do the final report cos we all sian liao. she copy a bit of team 1's report anyway.

den we were given free sleeping bags. so nice haha. so everyone sleep la. 4 something liao. i talk with darren cos he say humans don't need sleep. I say I agree with his statement. then he say he everyday sleep 4am. wake up 6am. i shocked. XD The last time i got one week i sleep 2am everyday, by the time I reached friday i buay tahan already. I dunno him. He weird. Too much motivation... from where i dunno. now i know why he can complete all his tutorials so fast. he is super chao mugger. don't sleep kind. ouch. I say what if he met with accident, den all the effort wasted. He say something that I not convinced of, i dunno exactly what but maybe it was something to do with going thru and becoming better; no regrets. I dunno lah, he like those kind of kiasu singaporeans, like don't want to meet failure till the point that they may put themselves at risk of being harmed.

ok. sleep. I cannot sleep. a bit excited. so sleep at 5am or something.

7.30am i woke up. dunno why not sleepy anymore. feel like can last the whole day. Perhaps there is a optimum amount of sleep which allows one to feel energised even though its only a few hours of sleep. mine seems to be 2.5hours. haha.

After packing up, everyone went to the giant mess hall. its damn damn big. we had breakfast of cos. I broke the fast after eating at 6.30pm the previous day. There was something everyone in the acjc table would notice- eileen was high. she said that in half an hour's time she will laugh for no reason. she says her MBTI profile is introvert but she is really an extrovert. ok, now worse than extrovert since she was high. I played with words and called her Her Highness. then she demoted me to being her servant. i kena owned XD.

The whole acjc team took a picture. We went on a bus ride to cantonment police complex. during the ride, eileen was the only one in the bus who talked like non-stop to darren. effects of highness. seriously, so high after sleeping for 3 hours, unbelievable. haha.

Aditya was a monster on the bus. RAWR!
We reached the complex and went to the small theatre there. They revealed the plot and everything, oso gave a talk on how the real forensics team solved previous cases. They boasted that they had solved 100% of cases last year. haha thats good. then They gave out the prizes anyway. My team got Cert of Participation. COP. we suck as cops. ACJC team 2 got 4th. not bad. so happy for them. but really, this is a game of luck la. if you tyco tyco ask the correct questions in the game, you sure win.

Later on there was lunch. the chicken drumsticks were nice. the fish oso. ai ya everything lah! we took individual pictures with the high high police officer. it was an honour haha. I liked the CSI polo shirt they gave.

At last, we left the place. I purposely said bye loudly to the chio bu, ah teng haha. cos the name is damn ah lian name. We all took MRT home. Everyone like lived in the West. except me la. anyway, I had to go for band. so followed them. and went to ACJC.

Moral of the story: Yeah, my team didn't win anything though. But darren was right. the experience is what that matters no matter what result you get. i did gain a lot from my CSI experience. (:

the update...

I better update cos its been quite long already.
My badminton sucked today. Minton the dog ate the shuttlecocks. I said BAD MINTON! That is lame though. Where are my crutches?!
Tomorrow there is this maths class assignment that is going to seem screwed up cos i haven't studied yet. Oh well... whatever.

On Saturday, there was the acs combined national day rehersal at queenstown sports complex. Apparently, they called it a stadium and when I looked at the street directory, I was all lost. It's a sports complex for goodness' sake! I was supposed to report at 6.00am there but I woke up at 6.30am and rushed there and reached at 6.55am. In other words, I was freaking late. The parade rehersal was going to start when I arrived, so I didn't feel so late. There was someone later than me though (Joel). It was so crowded at the band area and I felt so kena crushed up. And yes, rehersal was boring. Sian feeling because playing marches and salutes are damn easy and everyone will feel so sian playing 3 times for the 3 rehersals at one shot, or was it 2. oh nvm.

Ok, went back to school and then practised the Eb clarinet for the phantom of the opera we are playing in open house. So many solos, I scared already. BUT THE SOLOS ARE THE BEST IN THE PIECE. But all the fingerings are all different from the Bb clarinet 1st part. No choice, must practise playing the horrible Eb clarinet whose resistance is like playing a size 6 or more reed even though I put a size 4 reed. Obviously, lip very pain after a while. And while doing this practising, I totally missed Aaron's birthday lunch! )=

During the evening, there was the ACS(I) Band concert. I thought that overall was good. But mistakes do occur here and there. I liked the Junior Band's Doing That Thing You Do cos it was the orientation mass dance couple song. The concert was very pop music, musicals, a bit of jazz, big band songs kind of concert. No orchestra transcriptions for acsi like what Dr Lee does for us ACJC band.

After the concert, I admit that I didn't feel like talking all of a sudden, even though the whole world seemed very active. This, I dunno why, but I say I felt weird all a sudden. I only talked when I was outside the school when Kenneth asked how I was going home.

Ok, I went home.

Next day, very sian, stay at home chiong homework. Managed to do some, not all.

At night, there was football. MAN U vs CHELSEA. Community Shield thingy. Who won? The team I will always support. MAN U!!! Who should be honoured? Van Der Sar. The one who saved all 3 penalties. Ultimate lah. I was in shock. I didn't exactly watched the match closely, so I am in no position to comment on anything much. I was doing the SMC Vietnam OCIP teaching English planning thingy while watching.

Welcome to the end of this post. If you have reached the end of this post, congrats, this is THE END. Boring though, but it's my life.

NRP... and racial harmony

i'm back.

blah. yesterday i was alone most of the time but it was exciting.

first, school. I brought the laptop to school and kok loaded it with O2jam and it became a gaming machine. go to school to study or play? you decide. yeah, kok with his wonderful jamming skills attracted some attention. I was kept stunned by the way he can combo to insane numbers. The mini-crowd was stunned too.

Then starts my exciting aloneness. After school, I went to the coffee bean at holland village and i bought a caramel ice blended. nice stuff. and it's large too. I sat there and then took out the laptop. I put the laptop on linux os and did my nrp research thingy.

Basically, I have to take readings of the wireless connection there using the signal strength recorded on the console on the screen. first thing, I drew an accurate layout of the coffee bean shop. 2nd, walk around taking 5 readings at each table. 3rd, record the readings on the map i drew and a table. finally, locate the access point.

As I walked around, I felt a bit weird cos I was moving around the shop and there were so many people in the afternoon. Nevertheless, I completed my task. Before I draw out my readings and maps on the computer, I can infer like being under the access point may not the best spot for connection and signal strength could be difficult to create an accurate representation of your position in an indoor space. Maybe I should go and meet my professor to discuss these matters.

Nevermind that the reader of this post finds it unexciting, but the person who does it finds it exciting. If this not exciting enough, you can read the other more exciting posts.

Today is my brother's birthday and so happy 21st birthday to him! today is also the anniversary of the race riots in 1963, or rather, racial harmony day. Normally, this day would be a weekday, somehow this year it is on a saturday.

On the note of racial harmony day, would a day make a difference to the harmony in singapore? dunno lah. I say you go and ask the government, and they say that it is so as to remind us about the importance of racial harmony. This is true but I propose: everyday should be racial harmony day because racial harmony day sounds a bit like for only this day, all the different races will set aside their differences and we have peace.

Ever heard of the term 'racial tolerance'? It's a term that is sometimes used. I just don't like it. Tolerance means like in your heart you don't like somebody, but you try to bear with it. So racial tolerance means that you don't like the other races, but you bear with this hatred. So it seems like there is probably hidden, underlying tension within society when people use this term. Anyway, we should just stick to promoting racial harmony and not racial tolerance.

I going off liao - to study or in today's definition, to mug. I'm still a busy person and forever I will be.

boring

boring day. dunno what I was doing the whole day. It just passed so fast.
My mum will be gone for 2 months. She flew off at 11pm. Now, I have to be freaking independent. No more nagging, that's good. But I have to do things on my own without being told.
7am i go upload my PW event pics on flickr. If still got space, I upload my other pics.
ok. bb. I sian liao. nothing to talk. Read my other posts lah.

PW EVENT!

I rikes today. What a nice day. Today is PW Event day. It didn't just went well, it was very well.

Thanks to all my group members - Kok, Jia Yi and Yong Ye. Nice job guys. Although I am the person working to make sure everything goes well, I feel so indebted to kok cos he's really the one who held up the event so well. He's the one who really entertained the children. His impromptu presentation was like super entertaining yet meets its purpose. Kok was so influential that he could make the children so happy at the end to pose for the Yong Ye's camera recording. I guess my decision to make him the main presentor of the presentation and the papermaking at the last minute was so spot on. Jia Yi was deprived of her chance to show how to make the jumping frog though. But she was good at being the demostrator for the papermaking part. YongYe, not a bad job after all, in fact, quite good.

Kok brought the turtle and I rike to squash it in front of him cos its so nice to touch. The turtle, our mascot, was the most popular thing during the event after I showed it to the children during the presentation. Even Kok was shocked. So he let the children touch the turtle as they left the multi-purpose hall. The children were so excited.

TYS actually came. He then vanished after a while. He was impressed, according to the email he sent after the event. He said the event was so well-planned, eloquent speaking, nice skit.... blah... Don't believe him anyway; kok saved the event from self-destruction using his skill for being so lame. TYS took YongYe's role and videoed the presentation part for us. So nice of him to come, and so unexpected cos canberra primary is so freaking far away from ACJC. Ah yes, and his email got some part say that we are his best students. LAWL

After the event, we interviewed Ms Pavrl. She was good at it lah. Me, the interviewer, was impressed by the interviewee. I feel as if I want to be an interviewer again. Ms Pavrl had gave a good review for the event, although she critcised about the high noise level of the children. But nevermind, children are meant to be so.

Ah, pictures. I go upload on some online album soon.

Thank you very much. As the group leader, I will treat everyone after writing the Written Report. Continue the good work for now.

I gotta go now. Have to go airport to welcome back half my familiy at this time of the night. And please read my previous post, I think its darn good. =)

Perception

I feel so light. Like a heavy burden that has went off me. No, I didn't lose weight. This is perception. Later I will talk about perception.

For now, I feel so light because my PW event has been finally sorted out. I spent a long night thinking and typing about it. It's on Thursday. Only 1 day left. But it will be successful. And I hope it contains loopholes because there's no way there is going to be much error for the part on improvements in the Written Report. I will see how I am going to spot for errors for improvement on Thursday.

Didn't I say I want to talk about perception? Perception is a how one feels about or views the events occuring or objects in his or her surroundings. Why do I choose to discuss it? Because I was at the bus stop just now when a man in a pink T-shirt came out from a bus. Then I thought, what if the world associated pink with boys and blue with girls? How would life be?

If pink was associated with boys and blue with girls in another world, I can imagine it. This is because this view in our world is simply a perception by most people. The environmental factors that has led us to think in only a 'straight' way is what has caused us this association. This occurs to me too, because I too was influenced by the environment. In order to change our original perception, one must have a lot of imagination to imagine the opposite of what one usually perceives. This is why I can imagine a world where pink is associated with boys and blue with girls.

Let us discuss perception in a different perspective. I once read in a book about one seeing red as blue or green as blue. What if a person was told that the sky is blue but in his eyes he sees the sky as red? Is this possible? I hope not. One would always see a red sky in the day or see blue plants, which is, according to my perception, not aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Therefore, with my personal perception, I would have concluded that this case is impossible. But why is this case still possible? This is because my perception could be wrong. There is no truth in perception.

If there is no truth in perception, does that mean that all our human knowledge could be wrong? Yes. The sciences are all about observations, in other words, how one perceives an event or object. In the same way, the arts are all about how one perceives something. The five senses of a human could be flawed in making observations because they help a human perceive his or her surroundings.

An illusionist presents his self-disappearing trick. The audience are amazed by his skill because they have perceived him to have dematerialised into thin air. Is is true? Certainly not. In fact, from the illusionist's perception, no illusionist actually disappears and no harm is actually done. This is the point I want to make. One should not worry so much about discovering flaws in one's perception. As long as anyone does not discover any flaws with human perception, we should continue to perceive as we always do because our perception does work well for solving the many problems we face.
