today is A level chinese oral. It is not so bad after all. Anyway I wasted a lot of time memorising for topics that didn't come out. sian.
today I received back half an econs term exam(case study only). My case study could have full marks if not for the first question which is on the trend of some graph. surprise i guess. considering I never in my life ever did a single case study in my tutorials, it is an achievement.
today mr tan yin soo successful applied for a blue slip for my PW group on thursday 12 july 2007. yays.
today I am suffering from 'missing band' syndrome. I want to play LOTR liao.
today there was a singapore science and engineering fair. sounds like i needed to go but i did not go.
today i finally completed my chinese project which i am supposed to read to a microphone.
today I feel like blogging properly, lets start:
Let's talk about the Live Earth concert on 7.7.7. The concert is to promote awareness about global warming to an estimated 2 billion people (should be concentrated in developed countries for more effectiveness). Do I think its effective? No.
People watch the concert to see their idols or stars or whatever. When their idols tell people about global warming, people will listen. Thus, people will support against global warming. And that's what the organisers think. I say, if that's the case, do you think people really care about protecting the earth? It seems that they are merely following what their idols say.
Ok, next argument. People will support against global warming, but for how long? This is the time factor. Is a mega-mega-mega concert going to impact people so much until they will remember the message of the concert to protect to earth for a long time to come? I think not. People may just get fed up of saving electricity and all that stuff.
Last and the most ultimate point. Isn't it ironic that a concert going to get broadcasted all over the world is going to use up a whole lot of electricity to supply energy for television sets and power the concert? Clearly, this concert will significantly contribute to global warming.
Concerts suck at promote awareness of environmental issues. Still, the best solution is to educate people in school. We can also have higher electricity taxes. Basically, anything that reduces demand for fossil fuels is also effective.

Bye Muse! Hi Terms!
No one ever visits this blog. Please tag if you visit.
Muse - a night to remember is over. no more band for quite a while. yays for now. can concentrate on studies. nevermind the withdrawal symptoms of band cos i need to study.
I keep hearing people saying this: I haven't studied for terms yet. I'm screwed. well, some of this coming from my class. omg. I choose not to believe them. especially the loo, 1 week left and he proclaiming this thing. I bet that my classmates' meaning of preparing for terms is like working damn hard. They probably know their stuff already but they want to make sure its in their heads. If that's the case, there's going to be tough competition. As to the other people who made this statement, I believe you. Just try to make use of the remaining time left to the fullest.
The truth is that I already went through all my notes at least once in the past weeks. The only thing that can guarantee me As is practice. and i'm not doing it. I have been time wasting. The past week I've been watching Nodame Cantabile. 11 episodes means I wasted 11 hours. The drama made me want to practise piano more seriously so i practise more often. ok, more time wasted.
What I need to do is salvage my time. I will stop typing and practise on my econs which I seriously never practised before.

the GWH experience
A Summary -
Ah. The beautiful tuning chord. B-flat, D, F. 10 seconds of bliss.
A resonating echo then filled Singapore Conference Hall.
Tien-Yin in its full glory. The glorious organ sound.
The makings of a band destined for gold with honours.
After the performance, to sum up,
Melvin said: I was godlike.
I said: Me too.
Its late. Another day lah.

joy
-1 days left.
Yesterday, while listening to his phone, yel suddenly jumped and shouted damn happily. The crowd around him broke into madness. No doubt about it.
ACJC BAND - GOLD WITH HONOURS
And the band also got something much better than just a GWH... (secret la.. cannot tell)
There isn't time for a recount of SYF day. All I can tell you now is that the band made everyone else shit in their pants. For now, it's back to homework and tests.

tomorrow...
0 days left. 20 hours left.
SYF is tommorrow. ACJC Band will own. We will play not just the best feste romane that the judges will ever hear, but the best feste romane that we will ever hear.
Its been more than 4 months after I joined ACJC Band. Tomorrow is going to be the first benchmark of the J1s. I don't know whether to feel nervous or excited. But I am more to the latter now. Over the 4 months, it was mostly pure hard work, sacrifices and dedication. The only thing that drove me on was my passion for the band. And yes, the effort that everyone had put in will show in tomorrow's performance.
Today's run-through was good after Dr Lee tuned everyone individually. It was quite in tune. We were serious. We were determined. We want the top placing in SYF.
After the run-through, a J3 made a very inspiring speech. She confidently told us to make tomorrow like the sydney trip (i wasn't in the band yet!) where the ACJC band played an excellent Movement for Rosa. She is expecting us to get gold with honours, top band. Dr Lee then told the band that he knew our limits but the band don't know its limits. What I think he's telling us is that we should unleash our band's true potential for feste romane, for he had chosen the piece carefully for us to play. Of course, we will!
Of course, I cannot forget Feroz and Luqman's talk where they wanted us to play so well that the band members in other JCs shit their pants. Evelyn's talk was damn funny because she was crying before she made her talk for reasons that nobody knows. I forgot most of what she said except that we are in some sort of race. When it is Martin's turn to talk, he would all the time say something like I don't know what to say to you all to make you all feel movitivated. It this damn funny because he is obvious damn nervous and ironic in a sense as his talks in the end do meet their purposes.
After band, there were nice orange cheesecakes made by the ex-co to eat. Yum. But they make me seem to get a bit of a sore throat. They also worsened ryan's and nabilah's sore throat. Nevermind, what counts is the thought and effort that made this cheesecake. Thank you, ex-co.
When the Christian Fellowship came to pray with the band, it came in the form of 1 person. That person was David, the president of CF. Anyway, I was amazed at the speed which he said the prayer. It was very very very fast. Yeah, thank you CF.
Also, let's not leave out some things that has made our band sound so good - the spray and the feng shui.
In order to play well for tomorrow, we should "Have fun. Have fun. Have fun.", credit to MX. Didn't the composer for the Night Safari piece said that we should have fun? So, when we clap or blow the mouthpieces, let's be happy. Don't be nervous. Play out.
When it is time for Feste Romane, let's play our hearts out. It's a brilliant piece of music. ACJC band will make it sound better that what Resphigi wanted it to be.
Passion in the pursuit of perfection. This phrase will be what I will be thinking about well into tomorrow's performance. Let's do it. Let's aim perfection. Achieve the seemingly impossible.
Before I go, one last thing... I say,
"MAKE THEM SHIT IN THEIR PANTS!"

nevermind if nobody reads this
2 days left.
I screwed up my physics practical on teh pseudo atwood machine. The points of the graph went everywhere. Why? I never read the question properly. Stupid atwood machine. To think that I wanted to solve the infinite atwood machine when I can't even solve one machine. Maybe I'm just very tired.
Band practice today was productive. Just inches from gold with honours was the standard today. It's just about intonation and togetherness before we can progess to a higher standard. We may or may not achieve this. I hope we do so in time.
I'm off. Got to do my theoretical way of figuring out values for my physics prac.
s=ut + 1/2at²... s=0.500m... t=1.00s... therefore a = 1.00m/s².... blah...

Sad but happy day
4 days left.
Today: GPP day. Other Homework: Undone.
I'm here typing things, wasting 5 minutes of my life.
Successes today: GPP is complete. It's the best I can do already. The group will be thankful for it.
Failures today: GP AQ uncomplete. GP essay plan i not touching it. Econs test that i'm studying for now I don't know whether I can remember the elasticity parts.
Mood: tOO happy. Man U going to lift the premiership trophy at stamford bridge. humiliation for chelsea! Yes, I still remembered the last time at the Theatre of Dreams. Revenge is sweet.
But its too early to say. Let's see. Chelsea down by one now. 10 men left. Possibility of winning: none.
Let's celebrate.
Yes. It's an irony.

The DEAD blog awakes. Nevermind if nobody reads this.
6 days left (actually less than 5).
Blue slips. Band. Just pure band. Well, almost, not to forget some tests and homework.
Let's do this. Let's give the college an extraordinary concert on monday.
Then it's time for SYF on friday. I'm going to have the time of my life. It's not about getting gold with honours - its about giving our best shot. Of course - Let's feel the music. Experience the 11th Tien Commandent and Tien Yin.
"The Best is NOW!" - Dr Lee
"Passion in the pursuit of perfection" - the whiteboard in front of the stage
Let's achieve these!
PS: Rest well everyone! Drink lots of water. Take Vitamin C. Take drugs if you need to.

im back!
today i dunno what's wrong with me. I felt weird the whole day la. I'm like dreaming during all my tutorials and lectures. Now i finally realise what sleeping at 1.59am can do to me.. zzz... so today im sleeping at 12am.
I also went mad with food. I ate char kway teow, lemon chicken rice, mcdonalds and chicken cutlet all within 4 hours. But i still don't feel bloated. I need to eat pods later.
currently, i am so very busy. almost everyday i reach home at least 10pm + den still got homework. syf preparation so tiring. Using concepts in economics, I feel that the opportunity cost of the time spent in band is very high. My NRP project i havent even started yet. My home work pile is already in fact at least a 15cm high pile of paper.
so i question: Why am i still so passionate about band when i already failed my chem common test due to the lack of time to study? I just dunno the answer. I don't feel like a slave in band - i just like band.
the band has certainly improved in the last few weeks after the concert. but the improvement isn't a lot. I don't blame myself because i believe i am already doing my best. the fate of the band in the syf lies in the togetherness, balance and musicality of everyone. and i agree that the band lacks attitude.
syf is coming soon. for the next 20 days, my limits are going to be tested. i just have to look forward to more tests and datelines within the next 20 days and most notably, the SPAS!!! and so i say the a levels are already here (added pressure to do exceptionally well).
thats the end of my latest post... very boring rite?
