a night to remember

This is not from High School Musical 3, the book by Walter Lord or any random song. This is Muse - A Night to Remember.

A great band member once wrote:

"When we muse about the Muse of the ACJC Concert Band, we invoke the inner fire of music within us. This is a night of music to remember, a nocturne to muse for eternity."
From God came the Muse, and this is the power of the Muse: the power of passion. The Muse that we muse about, presented itself that night to all who listened. The perfection we sought, is the product of the Muse. The imperfections we could not avoid, we do not harp on. The magnificent music of that night we ponder: how do we prolong the joy that engages our body, soul and spirit? Continue to muse on the Muse and spread its wings, we realise, for it is the wellspring of musical enjoyment. And then we can bask in its glory for all eternity. It came to the listeners' apprehension that on that night, the quintessential Muse made the night brighter than day.

The above is nonsense. What must I been thinking? The concert was great. Thanks for the memories! And I am the 'great band member'.

maury and the weird

"Oh, I'm going takeover as host for The Maury Show for 3 weeks when he's going for an operation."

That came from the mouth of a person who was from my er... office. Believe it?

A show that is like the Jerry Springer Show. A show that displays the dirty laundry of poverty America. A job to host such a show given to an unknown Singaporean with an alias on facebook with 2035 friends (I have 18 mutual friends with him who come from random parts of my life and I still fear making friends with him). 3.5 million viewers a show. This guy is a 302. Everything about him is weird; he looks weird, dresses weird, smells weird, sounds weird, has weird mannerisms. If he smiles at all, you have the sudden urge to punch him in the face. The odds are stacked against this statement. Yet, there must be some hint of truth in between the lines of between of the lines.

He said:

"They have been starting to showcase Chinese people so they need someone is able to speak English and Chinese."

"I'm flying there on _____ (this date... I forgot)."

"I know the dunno who of this dunno what show and this guy recommended me to the producer of The Maury Show."

"My boyfriend is going to miss me while I'm there." o.O

He wrote: "Maury Show (NBC)"

I'm in a quandary. Should I believe him or not?

I simply told him to tell him to go and send out an e-mail to the office when he's the host over there so that I can find him on Youtube. All I can do is wait. Wait for weird to become a weird star.

A piece of my mind: Could it be a ploy by Mr Maury to bring him to actually take part in the show? To be jeered, ridiculed and scoffed in a top secret plot with a script so vicious and ludicrous? If that is so, I can only wait and see.

unlucky

*I'm out of control, please mind my unusually high usage of coarse language. Thanks.

Some horrible thing happened to me. I was freaking tired after getting out of my camp at 6.45pm (mega long meeting that I observed ><), and I took the 2 buses to get to Coronation Plaza to wait for my parents to pick me up. I sat outside on the marble benches outside NTUC, just starting to read my vocab flash cards to pass the time (preparing for SATS!) and drinking my oreo crush at the same time.

At 7.30pm, a messy-haired, bespectacled woman approached me, clutching her mobile phone, saying in chinese (gg... chinese... the untouched language) that she needs help with typing an sms. Her voice was barely audible and I swear that did not sound like Singaporean Chinese to me. I accepted her request, since I was wearing that pajama-like green uniform and had to be helpful to others to show the spirit of the ymra. That turned out to be a great mistake.

Apparently, as I deciphered her almost too soft voice and screwed-up speech pattern, she handed me her Nokia phone to type the sms. The screen displayed her inbox. Her inbox was filled with some system notification messages. At the top was at last, a normal message from someone called Gina Ng. She wanted me to reply to Gina. Suspiciously, the message simply said: "Who u?". I thought, since she actually contacted this person by sms, why is she asking me to do this? Then, she asked me to type, with much difficulty in deciphering her Chinese: "Dear Gina" She suddenly gave me her IC (her name's Ang something something) and some business card with Gina and Gina's number. Then she continued: "there were 2 policemen who came to my house." I stopped there. (A bit weird here because she never explictly told me to type her name out. She only handed me her IC.)

After that, she gave me an information overload. Like really random bits of information. About this Ah Boon, then she showed someone's photocopyed IC, perhaps some criminal. Suddenly, she switched to asking Gina to call her. Then this Gina and her boyfriend. That was it. I heard incoherent sentences in mostly weird-sounding Chinese come out and a smatter of sometimes incomprehensible English when I asked her to repeat in English. I was desperate, so I started typing: "Please call me". She stopped me, for weird reasons I can't remember. Then she continued on with repeating what she said, which was still far too much and too incoherent and random for me to type on sms.

I felt fucked up. Whatever she said in Chinese I did not know what to type. Finally, I said, "Can you slowly repeat what you got to say in your sms? I'm just here to type this sms for you." She was agitated. And went on to continue her random rambling. It was frustrating, intense and her original request sounded redundant; she had too much to say to me. "Can't you just call Gina?" I asked. She instantly retorted me, saying that she didn't want to call her because of some stupid reason I can't remember (maybe Gina wasn't picking up her phone). In the middle of her rambling, she switched her focus to aggressively persuading me to type the sms for her and saying how important it was to her, some police case thing and her I-don't-know-what illness. I thought, "What you fucking want me to do? I don't understand what you fucking want ok!" I couldn't say what I thought as I was in that green uniform. She reminded me that what I was typing at that moment could be some sort of police thing (evidence for something? I guess). That sounded extremely fucking pressurizing. I knew I had to back out, this was going to get stupider and stupider - an endless pit of stupidity.

I gave her phone back to her and prepared to pack my bag and bravely said, "Sorry, I don't understand your Chinese. My Chinese isn't that good." I hinted that her English wasn't too comprehensible. She said, "I'm going to sue you. Where are you from? (obviously, leveraging on my uniform)". I didn't reply because I didn't have any obligation to tell her anything. That was shocking anyway. Blackmailing me all of a sudden. I argued, "How do I help you when I don't even understand what you are saying? Anyway, you can easily ask anyone else out there if you need additional help." She irately replied in Chinese, "zhen shi mei you liang xin." ( No heart for the needy.) I thought, "Like what the fuck?! I eagerly volunteered to help you but I couldn't understand you and you fucking say that I am not compassionate?" As she said that, she was busily snapping a photo of me. (Like I care! You were in the wrong! STOMP me lah. I didn't care whether my sewn-on name or formation badge was in the picture.)

I briskly walked away after that, ignoring the grating voice she had, towards the stairs to the car park, feeling stupefied and confused, never turning back to take a look. I felt fucked up because she tried to blackmail me. She had to had that ulterior motive of making me get fucked if I didn't fully helped her. An innocent ymra personnel in a noob-looking green uniform sure looks like a good target to blackmail!

Maybe I should discuss a bit about my theory about the mentality of this woman. Why did she probably this to me? My guesses: The sms was important. Gina could be Ah Boon's girlfriend. Ah Boon could be her son. She was desperate because her son is a criminal and he's on the run and she thinks that Gina may know about his whereabouts. The 2 policemen were there to search her house. She wanted Gina to call her. She could have wanted to warn Ah Boon via Gina that the police may be about to find him. I feel it that it all links together. It is complicated. I swear that she was so damn despo that her emotional state overcame her rational, logical state. Desperate people will do anything irrational. I don't wish to get involved in this! o.O

I swear I was a bit lucky. I don't know how to imagine if I persevered to stay longer to help her, I could have got really scammed if I suddenly backed out by then. It certainly does not pay to try to help some people! D: Indeed, the reality of society sucks. Just hope she doesn't hire a PI to search me using that photo she took and implicate me in the future with crap that may involve the ymra to waste my time!

*Note: I don't want to state the ymra specifically cos they really do have people who search for bloggers who blog anything to do with them! I saw some blog posts in a powerpoint so I'm not taking any chances here.

songs about army

Blogging about army is risky. Everyone knows that. Perhaps not me.

During the first 17 days of confinement that everybody in my company went through, people were bored sick in the bunk. Boredom, of course, gives birth to creativity. Our minds were filled with thoughts on how to make time fly faster, aka how to kill time. My bunk, which contained an excess of brain dead souls made up a song. Actually, 3 people made it up. Somehow, I'm one of them.

The 12 Days of NS (sung to the tune of The 12 Days of Christmas)
On the first day of NS my sergeant gave to me, a brand new FAD (or SOG).
On the second day of NS my sergeant gave to me, 2 garters and a brand new FAD.
On the third day of NS my sergeant gave to me, 3 PT kits, 2 garters and a brand FAD.

IT'S NOT PRACTICAL TO TYPE ALL THE SHIT, SO I SHALL CUT THE CRAP AND TYPE THE IMPORTANT PARTS.

On the fourth day..., 4 NO. 4s... (In the end, everyone gets 5 of these but at the beginning you really only have 4 of these.)
On the fifth day..., 5BX...
On the sixth day..., 6 candles...
On the seventh day..., 7 core values...
On the eighth day..., 8 rounds of ET...
On the ninth day..., 9 push-ups...
On the tenth day..., 10 lights out...
On the eleventh day..., 11B...
On the twelfth day..., 12 bunk-mates... (According to my bunk, I do have 12 of them.)

A song that is NOT R21 or M18, for once. Such a relief. No gore, no violence, no inclinations towards sex, no vulgarities, no self-depreciating humour about your own death, no death threats to your superiors or buddies and no girlfriend dreams. Clean fun that's difficult to find.

The whole platoon came to know of the song, I don't know how myself. Soon, the whole company knew about it. The 3 of us, the unknowns, remained the unsung heroes of the song. It should remain like this for eternity (at least till this song becomes obsolete).

The bored-to-death section also came up with 2 games to play - Defence of the Lockers or DotL and When the Cold Wind Blows. Whatever they are I shall cover them next time.

a level results

Call me a perfectionist. 4h2 As, pw A, H3 contem physics dist, gp B, chinese C.
Heck Chinese. I always don't care about it.
But gp is B. omg omg omg. damn the essay. I did the wrong one and killed myself off. Of course not happy. I should have done better for GP, that's why.
Anyone who knows me from Barker would be familiar with this one. Again that curse struck. For six years it has been there. Is it just me or is it him? Another reason for sadness.
My bro came home and saw my results slip and he agreed that the GP grade is indeed very irritating. D:

There's a second chance, though a lesser one. When I take the SAT, my england will be so powderful, that the B shall be banished. There's hope of course.

In any case, results aren't everything.

Well, back to camp on Sunday. Sad. I'm confined after the pop for something that shouldn't have happened.

After confinement, time to search for scholarships and ask questions. And apply for the local unis. I'm not going back to NTU (If I apply for them, they will confirm want me because I've taken part in too many of their programmes but look at them, so cheena and all the China students over there omg). Not management, econs, law (I can't take with B for GP), business so SMU's out. That leaves me with NUS.

The whole world expects me to take medicine. No way I'm going that path. I going for a science/engineering course. Not EEE (horrible experience at NTU, sorry not cut out for it). Something else...

After all, overseas is where I want to go. Destination UK. If not, US.

So who's happy with their results? From my closer friends, they generally don't seem too happy. Among my classmates, there are bits of unhappiness but many are happy, with one calling it divine intervention.

the war

I'm going to fight the war. The war in Tekong.

First, I have to report there at 8.30am at the war command centre 2. Then they will inculcate and drill the idea into my head of having a war mentality before shaving my head as a sign of acceptance of the ways of war. They will give me lots of war rations and equipment and I will be led to my campsite. I will fall in and they will give me my rifle. Thereafter, they will send me into the battleground, to fight the war.

My commanding officer will decide my fate; he gambles with lives the same way a gambler gambles with money. Blood will be shed, but hopefully not mine. I will have faith and trust in him.

My company shall fight as one, forging a strong unbreakable bond. My comrades will cover me, and I shall protect them. With our lust for blood, the savage enemies will be defeated. God protect us.

There is hope. A light at the end of the tunnel, though only a sliver. The war will be over. Its days are numbered.

ian can cook episode 2

Hey kids, welcome to the second episode of Ian Can Cook (pronounced as yan can cook XD).

Japanese cuisine is something many people enjoy, but not many over here actually cook it. Today we will be making something simple which can be done in less than 15 minutes. It's called hiyashi chuka or cold noodles. Yeah, something different from your usual hot and soupy Maggi mee diet. :D They say it's great for the summer time. And since Singapore is always summer, you can probably eat it everyday (if you are willing to spend at least $6 for a packet of noodles for two).

So go to any Japanese supermarket or a supermarket with a Japanese section and find some hiyashi chuka. It looks something like that...
The recipe is in Japanese on the back of the noodle packet that feeds 2 people. I will translate into English here:
1. Boil plenty of water. Put your noodles in. Let it cook for 5 minutes.
2. Drain off the boiling water with a strainer and rinse the boiled noodles immediately in cold water.
3. Drain off the noodles with a strainer.
4. Put noodles on a plate with your choice of topping.
5. Pour attached sauce over noodles.

Refering to Step 4: Yeah! Free choice of topping! Take your pick among these:

  • thin strips of fried eggs in an omelette
  • thin strips ham or poached chicken breasts
  • julienned cucumbers
  • julienned carrots
  • bean sprouts
  • sliced tomatoes
  • pickled ginger (beni shoga, in little strips)
For the ultimate cooling effect, cool them all after cooking or slicing and dicing!

Arrange them so that they look something like this:Well, let's see what I got around the house... Eggs, leftover frozen bacon, lettuce. Perfect!

Cooking in Progress. Boring...

Since presentation isn't so important to me and I can't be bothered to slice the bacon, the following should be sufficient for a great lunch!

Itadakimasu!

The noodles are chewy and light. The sesame sauce poured at the end gives it a tangy taste.
Oishi desu!

Rating: 9/10 WIN for hiyashi chuka!

We have come to the end of the second episode, kids. Oh yes, I almost forgot, get your parent's permission before using the kitchen knife. We don't want to see bleeding little escaped fingers wriggling around the chopping board. Alright, goodbye, have fun!

more anime

I think that this post is very boring... a mere reflection and description... and I feel that the connection between ideas is poor.

Congratulations, you are on your way to becoming an otaku. That's what sometimes I would think. Since I have chosen this path, l'm going continue to tread it for the next unknown number of months. So if I'm not blogging, I'm either watching anime (most of the time), sleeping (I sleep more than I watch them), playing computer or outside. Such is the life of one who has no school to attend and awaitng NS.

So, what have I been watching? I'm a little experimental here. Being an absolute noob in this delusionary world, I think that it's okay to watch everything popular that comes my way. In this way, I watch almost every genre like romance, comedy, magical girl, supernatural. I haven't watched much horror yet. I'm avoiding stuff like mecha and fighting. Anyway, ever-popular Naruto and Bleach both have way too many episodes for me to even start watching. Besides, there's a high risk of becoming a NARUTARD. :(

Here's my watched list:
Recommended
Clannad, Ginban Kaleidoscope, Alice Academy, Shugo Chara, Vampire Knight both seasons
Ok only
School Days (craziest ending ever), Kannagi, Lamune, Aizu Pure
Very Ecchi (adult)
Oruchuban Ebichu (a sick anime with dirty Japanese jokes and puns by a silly hamster, not to mention actual sex scenes but all drawn in a simplistic style)

Currently watching:
Skip Beat!, Toradora! (both of them are showing on okto by the way), A Certain Magical Index, Maria Holic, Kiss x Sis, Clannad After Story, Shugo Chara Doki

Watching in the near future (probably after BMT):
The Melancholy of Haruchi Suzumiya (both seasons), GTO and its prequel OVAs, La Corda O'ro (both seasons), Kanon, Air, Higurashi, Jigoku Shoujo
In fact, the new Spring 2009 season seems very promising, but I need to catch up on older ones. :D

Well, in view of the long list of anime I am watching, I guess it's going to make me very introverted and unfit (lack of exercise). At the same time, the packets of subliminal messages of Japanese culture within each anime is turning me into one who adores their culture and their language. Not that the proliferation of their culture is a bad thing; it's good to learn about them. But I feel as if I am so crazy as to aim to fold 1000 paper cranes over this year and also try to find out more about their language to the point that my everyday greetings may soon become Japanese. Soon, don't be surprised in the morning that I may say Ohayou, and at night, Oyasumi. It is an overkill, isn't it?

To be continued... After I come back...

ian can cook

Hey kids, welcome to the first episode of Ian Can Cook (pronounced as yan can cook XD).

Muggles! Ever wondered what the food in Harry Potter's magical world tastes like? There are lots of food: from Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans to Chocolate Frogs to Cauldron Cakes. Today, we are making BUTTERBEER - the Potter gang's favourite drink at The Three Broomsticks. It has a smooth buttery taste and it warms you up! Perfect for a cold day! And it's easy to make! Even a noob can make it.

Butterbeer is prepared warm. Yes, there are cold ones, but today we are making the warm version, because it is better tasting. The recipe we are using today is borrowed from the web, with slight modifications.

Ingredients for making 2 cups (250ml each):
1 cup of cream soda (F&N Ice Cream Soda)
1/2 cup of butterscotch syrup (get the smuckers one, quite rare though)
1/2 tablespoon of butter
A few drops of of vanilla extract (if you don't have, I think the butterscotch has it already)
A splash of absolut vodka or whatever hard liquor you like

Directions:
In a jug or some container, pour the cream soda into the jug, add the vanilla and absolut vodka into it.
Heat a small frying pan (smaller the better) in a fire to optimum temperature and spread the butter onto it. Pour the butterscotch syrup into the frying pan. Stir until they mix well. Wait a while until the mixture bubbles like a potion in a cauldron.
Pour the mixture into the jug or container and mix well.
Serve and drink and enjoy.

Let us continue with the show...
You kids may think that omg, fat everywhere, just like drinking straight from the syrup bottle! And imagine the layer of oil above the drink. Yucks. Well, don't be so paranoid, just drink lah. Anyway the layer of oil will not be that thick as you expect it to be.

On my first try (making 1 cup only), I am going to add butterscotch, butter and vodka to the heated frying pan together. (Notice the word VODKA)

Omg...I self-pwned. How am I going to expect this to happen! (I am not going to take a photo of the real thing happening in my kitchen again, it freaking shocks me.)
I am freaking surprised. I am shocked. Then, I laugh for damn long. XD It is f-ed up to the max. And it is damn funny at the same time. There goes my alcohol - all gone.

SO KIDS, DON'T TRY PUTTING ALCOHOL INTO A FRYING PAN WHEN IT'S HOT UNLESS YOU THINK YOU WORK IN A POSH RESTAURANT. In other words, don't follow this noob over here.

So I heat up the mixture in the frying pan until it's bubbly all over and I pour it into the cup of cream soda and vanilla and mix it well and add vodka (remember it burned off!). So how it turns out? It looks brown, with some fizz. Blobs of oil on the surface, but nevermind. Ah... the smooth buttery taste. It isn't perfect though, there isn't enough alcohol; the buttery taste seems to cloud it over. Most disappointingly, it wasn't that warming - perhaps I need to warm up the cream soda first next time.

On my second try, I am not going to repeat my mistake AGAIN! I make the butterbeer. It turns out that I've not added enough butterscotch syrup... -.- . It tastes plain horrible. I simply add some butterscotch syrup and there it is, almost perfect! The smooth buttery taste with a tinge of alcohol! What I am looking for! If only I care to warm the drink up, it would be perfect! I would be in Potter land (whatever -.-).

My second try! As pictured below: (I put this cup in the fridge for an hour already, so there's no more fizz. D: )
Butterbeer RATING: 3/5 Good. Perhaps the real thing in that Potter land tastes much better but muggles like me will never know.

We have come to the end of the first episode, kids. Don't cry please, you can see me again when I attempt another cooking miracle, I'm not going away for good. Have fun making butterbeer.

anime recommendation!

I spent yesterday night and today watching Clannad and Clannad After Story (up to 8th episode - still ongoing). 16 hours of anime!
They are pretty good to watch, with lots of eye candy to see. I LOVE eye candy. Lots of tear jerking moments and if you don't cry at least once, you are not human. And it's still ongoing!

Life revolves around a male protagonist who is a delinquent in his final year in senior high and throughout the first season he meets 5 girls and other interesting characters in and out of school. In the end, he chooses 1 girl to love and the end. In the 2nd season, for until the part that I watched, they are still in school. If the anime were to follow the visual novel on the PS2 or PC, in fact, the After Story only includes the part after graduation and the love life of the guy and the girl. Ai ya, I dunno anything, must wait long long cos every episode comes every week.

Sian, I go find other animes to recommend soon.

Verdict: Clannad - 8/10 Clannad After Story - 8.5/10 (at this point)

shortest ever party

Party at Tim's house.
I didn't know he had another house somewhere else. I went to his actual home nearby my home and no one was there except his maid. Then I called him and I found out that he had a secret hideout.

Party started at 5pm.
I came at 6pm.
The house was empty, except for a large floor space. A lone TV and a PS2 sat at one side. A gambling den was set up in front of the steps to the second floor.

Party ended at 8.30pm.
Why? Too many drunkards in the house. They actually left me out. -.- They drank my litre of absolut mango without me knowing that it was gone. I was in shock. No way they could finish it that fast.

Why did they have to drink so early? At least start the hardcore drinking at 11pm!!! And I thought that they are sucky drinkers. 2 litres of 40% alcohol and all the drinkers dying already? Come on lah.

I went home at about 11pm. So Kenneth and I had this conversation after the party. We laughed at their poor drinking skills.

EDIT: 19 people came. I left out the most important suspect who wanted the party to take place who drank siao siao but never died in the end - darren.
Final Tally: 19 people. 5 puking like shit and dying.
Yes, they all suck as drinkers. I've ever seen less people drinking even more than what they have drunk.

We need to put up some rules for drinking to make a party last longer and make it less of a suffering to the drinkers and the cleaners of their puke!

Here goes:
1. Don't go hardcore till late at night. Starting after dinner is a no-no, as it kills the spirit of a party.
2. Eat more before you drink and as you drink, you eat.
3. Drink water before you drink and as you drink.
4. Know your limit. If you suck at drinking, don't follow the rest, because the feeling after that will suck, and you will make a mess that someone else or you have to clear up.
5. If you do the above and still drink, you will become fat, so drink less.

To relieve the drinkers from suffering and a hangover later on:
1. Take Pepto Bismol/Antacid.
2. If stomach is ok, a lot of orange juice is good. If stomach is not ok, a lot of water is good. Alternatives include apple juice, gatorade. The thing is: hydration! So no caffeine and tea.
3. Eat sugar-filled foods. Don't have? Eat sugar lah!
4. 2 ibuprofen.

To cure hangovers:
Bananas, eggs, water, gatorade, fruit juice.

Important to assign non-drinkers to clean up their puke and relieve the drunkards. Get plastic bags, detergent, mops, beds, etc.

this is dumb and stupid

Since yesterday, 2 videos have been making it's rounds around the internet. Some mega wild birthday prank by a bunch of girls in acjc that was posted on Youtube on 30th September was flamed by the online community. It started on the HardwareZone forums, where it attracted 4k views by 11pm. The next day at 12pm, it had already attracted 18k views and it comes with a 27 page long thread. UPDATE: At 7pm, 26k views.

Today, it has been posted on stomp, the ultimate kpkb website that is linked to the press. And it is taking the front page of that Singapore Seen (the website you never want yourself to be seen on, i mean seriously). Screw the stompers, because they are starting to make a mountain out of molehill. The retard stomper, who brought the matter from HWZ to stomp must be the ultimate retarded whistleblower. This person called outrage (He/She made a special account to post this shit) went on and exaggerated the matter with an article that can make a reader feel so shocked. Then in the comments part they talk all sorts of crap like call MOE, call acjc, call principal, call parents, call authorities. They jump to conclusions like what have they been teaching in acjc and they lament about singapore youths and what other bullying could have happened in the school.

The 2 videos have been taken off, but apparently, the stompers are trying to upload them for everyone's viewing. This is the horrible truth about stompers. They are a bunch of kaypoh singaporeans. I won't be surprised if it appears in the newspapers tomorrow.

I know lots of people will be thinking: poor girl, poor whatever. But it's been like 1 and a half months since the incident. All that talk is just... senseless and useless. A waste of bandwidth and people's time.

Mr Kyaw appears at the end of the 2nd video to tell the girls off. I don't know whether he may be implicated in this matter. I don't know how will it end. I only know that acjc is going to be tarnished in some way.

I do know who started it all on the HWZ forums. I've been monitoring the situation since I saw the thread just being created. This guy told me back via sms: "Holy shit!! I didn't know it would cause an uproar... Shit Shit Shit!!" That shows that he regretted creating the thread. He didn't meant for it to blow up. When the videos were first posted, the only way to access them was to type "acjc" in the Youtube search bar, and they only attracted 200 or less views (I somehow saw them before when I was searching for other videos). Now, they have been extracted out from the blue and they are gaining online attention. He thought that the thread would disappear into oblivion, like almost every thread out there. But what was done is done. The damage is done, and it is growing.

What can I do? Just let the events unfold. The media is far too powerful for the individual to control. If you go to the front page of the stomp website, it is the first thing you see. But at the moment, Singapore Seen cannot be entered, probably due to some hackers.

Update:

Someone said:
"just now 987 got talked about it...lol
worst of all is...it says 'a teacher came and stop the students...
but the teacher did not stop the students because of what they are doin,
but because it might dirtied the school compound and they have to clean up.'"

One retard said on someone's blog:
"ACJC is supposed to be an institution with christian values.
It is shocking and unbelievable to see the public humiliation and indignity done to a fellow human being and in this case, a young girl who may have to live forever with the emotional scars and hurts with possible depression and who knows - it might even be a suicide trigger as I have heard yearly of a significant number of suicides involving JC students.
The MOE must investigate immediately and if necessary the Police must be involved if assault is deemed to be committed.
There must be follow up satisfactory action - the MOE owe it to all parents.
The victim must come forward to report the incident and get her family lawyer to follow up to seek re-dress in the Courts if the incident will indeed be covered up as we read - blogs about it are being quickly removed.
The victim must be helped referred for counselling if necessary.
The guilty ones must be punished not only the girls who participated in the torture but also all the boys in the background who cheered the bullyings and molesting involving forced change of bottom wear with revealings of one’s modesty, and stuffing of things into the victim’s blouse.
The MOE must make its comments.
The Police must be kept informed to put a stop to such bullyings in all schools.
Finally still unhappy parents must get their sons and daughters out of ACJC - with MOE facilitating.
Without a doubt, if my daughter were in ACJC, I will help her get a transfer to find any JC.
The JC must make its statement and not pretend that the incident dis not take place.
Finally can a member of the local or international press pick this article and highlight it in the newspapers - this is a social responsibilty of all to act."

Total nonsense I think, the above.

ACJC replies:

ACJC says it has counselled the students who tied up one of their peers to a chin-up bar in their birthday celebration and says it has advised them to celebrate in other ways.

This response comes in the wake of a STOMP posting where STOMPer outraged expressed disgust at the way the birthday girl was treated as she was filmed tied up and roughed up in her birthday celebrations.

In her response to STOMP, the principal, Mrs Kelvyna Chan of ACJC says:

"The College is aware of the incident which was a birthday celebration of a student who was popular with her peers.

"We understand that the student was prepared for the celebration, and that there was no malice nor bullying involved.

"When a teacher saw the celebration, he immediately stopped it and counselled the students.

"The birthday girl also assured the teacher that she was not hurt physically nor emotionally.

"Some weeks after the event, a teacher again enquired about the girl's wellbeing, and she assured the teacher and the College that the celebrations were all done in good fun and she was well.

"Although the activity was done in good humour, the college has counselled the students involved on the possible hazards of such activities and that there are more appropriate ways to show friendship among their peers."

That person who started the thread seriously made the matter so big that the school must answer. Very foolish of him to go and reveal this kind of things on the forum.

wtf i dunno what is this but read it

The Straits Times 30 September 1999
JUNIOR COLLEGE COLLAPSES AFTER 23 YEARS

The Anglo-Chinese Junior College, located at Dover Close East, lay in a pile of rubble yesterday, after the grand structure of 23 years came crashing down during morning assembly amidst the singing of the National Athem. A total of 122 casualties were reported, most of whom were students who were crushed when the toilets on the second level collapsed, leaving the largest lecture theatre on the third level to crumble in a large cloud of dust accumulated in the past decades.

Civil Defence officers arrived promptly at the scene, along with officials from the Ministry of Education and various government departments which were involved in the construction of the College more than two decades ago.

Mr Lenn, the vice-principal of the college and long serving teacher said, "We didn't expect it to cave in on us today. It was really a down-to-earth experience, and a tragic loss for all of us. We lost a good deal worth of government equipment." He declined to comment on how there were 122 students located in the level two toilets during morning assembly, at which every student is expected to attend. He also declined to answer exactly how much equipment belonging the college itself was lost, only saying that, "We've developed a strong emotional attachment to the facilities and building itself in the many years that the college has served us."

Mrs Lim Han Soon, who has been principal of the school for the past two years, attempted to explain the cause of the collapse, "I donch know what these students do sometimes. By having 122 students in the toilets the ground is sure to collapse."

The student leading the school in the anthem, requesting to remain anonymous except for saying that he was a year one student studying at the currently-levelled college, offered the most logical explanation. He said, "The college has been undergoing ground works at the car park recently, which may have caused a shift in the foundation, leading to the collapse of the school.

"In addition to that, the heavy downpour yesterday morning flooded most of the classrooms. With the kind of structural integrity ACJC has, I wont be surprised if officials say that water seeping into the crevices of the chipped concrete actually might have further eroded the walls or concrete flooring." When asked if his singing could also have played a part in the tragedy, he could only raise his hands in frustration, "With the kind of audio system we have, any singer could bring the school down."

Structural integrity was the key-phrase at the press conference held at the ACJC Sports Complex later in the morning, as a panel of investigators and architects explained to a large group of journalists the main reason behind the fall of the college. "Apparently the gaping holes in the walls were not reported to the ministry earlier, and thus we were unable to gauge that the structural integrity of the main block of ACJC was far from sound. With the extra cabling involving the installation of fibre optic cables and a host of other inclusions such as ten-thousand dollar projectors, we never knew that the building could not take the massive drilling underground and around the building." said Mr Con Structor, who is the chief investigator at the site.

A furious parent of a deceased student accused the Ministry of Education of overcrowding the junior college with many more students than logically possible in ACJC, saying, "Twenty years ago there only 600 students in the college, and in recent years this number has grown to more than 1800. With the kind of sub-standard facilities that my child has been studying in, how could anyone expect the building to stand any longer?" Mr Lenn was to point out that this was not the case, as the ACJC Sports Complex was still standing and was also considered 'part of the college'. Massive salvage operations have been carried out in the past 12 hours, with excavators from a nearby construction site situated at Buona Vista MRT Station being brought in to remove the massive amounts of rubble. Emergency operations were also carried out to remove the initial 5m layer of dust covering the building, using high powered vacuum cleaners. Salvaged so far was a Neoprint machine, a tub of Cremo ice-cream, an ACJC umbrella, and a pair of ACJC bears.

Upon being questioned that a bomb might have been set off in the toilets instead, the investigative panel quoted that this could have been the case, except that the only way in which this could have happened was if there was a massive buildup of methane in the toilet at the second level, and that a spontaneous combustion could have triggered an explosion leading to the collapse.

As a result of the collapse, the Anglo-Chinese Junior College would be temporarily relocated to Raffles Junior College, which is equipped with similar facilities but lacking in an Olympic-size swimming pool and a fully-fledged Sports Complex. In return, ACJC would loan it's Sports Complex to RJC till it shifts to Bishan, leaving ACJC to take full control of all its facilities in Ghim Moh.

Upon listening to the announcement that ACJC would share its premises with RJC and would eventually take over its campus there, a prominent Student Councillor from ACJC whispered, "Looks like we can shelve the upgrading plans after all, or perhaps we could help upgrade the campus in Ghim Moh instead..."

In the meantime, riots were reported to have broken out in RJC, when an ACJC student was involved in a scuffle with an RJC student. He had tried to put up the ACJC flag in place of the RJC flag at the flagpoles in RJC. This angered the Students' Council of RJC, and the situation was further aggravated when a roving band of ACJC students repainted the front gates of their college red, blue and gold. The students from Raffles retaliated, and attacked the band with grenades made in the chemistry labs.

A mass protest is expected tomorrow, when RJC students are expected to wear ACJC uniforms to school.

the last before A levels

This is the last ever post before the A levels. 23 days left. A levels lasts 16 days. So 39 more days to freedom - and the next post after this. After x number of days of freedom, it's time to enlist into PES C1L2 version of BMT, whatever is that.

A level preparations are going fine. No worries at all. Just that GP I need to memorise 1 megaton of examples before this monday which is the mock paper. Econs I'm like mugging content now.

Friday's chemistry mock was kind of difficult. On the 1st question, I calculated my initial rate using the gradient of the 2 reaction graphs but the gradients I got went haywire. I just simply put 1st order with respect to [H+] even though the results wern't that obvious that it was. The second question I bombed myself by not answering a 1 mark question that was simply a matter of writing a single word - "postive". The 4th question elucidation I was stumped. The LiAlH4 can't possibly give 2 products with an ester because that reaction isn't in the syllabus. It was the case, my teacher said, the ester got cleaved. On the net, I found that that makes 2 alcohols. Whatever lah, my elucidation gg one. Must go work on it.

Enough of matters that are too academic. After baccalaureate service, my class went to 4.6 cos the class rep got this surprise he claimed to take 8 hours to do it. Yup, it is a video! Not released on Youtube yet (later get screwed by the teachers who want privacy). Darren also invited all our teachers along, but the most important one, Mr Lim, got a meeting. So he never watched it with the rest of us.

Good job Darren. I didn't know beforehand that he actually interviewed all our teachers. Wow.
So yeah, the whole class got fired up after the video. And we actually could take a bus to vivocity together. Well, after lunch at Carl's Junior, every clique went off their separate ways. -.-

So did anyone notice something strange on baccalaureate day? Ok, apart from an excess of camwhoring by many people, what else? Did anyone look to see anything on the field?

An aerial view from the roof.
Can you see what the letters make out to be?
You can probably see "exams". Then on the left? ♥. Yup, ♥. So ♥ exams, apparently so.

So what? Nothing unusual, could just be a bunch of crazy acjc councillors making stuff and leaving it on the field. NOT!

It is a hack, like the MIT hack. Looks like an epic fail here.

Well, some MIT student wannabes wanted to emulate a MIT hack. The plan was to hang "I ♥ exams" across the field by tying a raffia string from the flag pole on the roof of the viewing gallery to the giant lighting pole on the other side. So they stayed late in school on the day before baccalaureate day. At about 11pm, they tied some string to the flag pole on the roof above the viewing gallery. Then, the security guard came over downstairs and they had to stop work. Nah, that's not the end. The security guard went away and they continued on. They pulled the string all the way to the end of the field. Then they realised they got not enough string. They pulled the string and it snapped. Game over. The result: What you see on the field.

That was not all. They wanted to do something with the the plasma screen in the hall. To display something the next day perhaps. They already got the high-tech equipment ready to do just that. But it was already so late, so they decided to call it a day.

Don't ask me why they chose "I ♥ exams". Those people are just a bunch of ultra-smart geeks. If you count the number of them in the J2 level, you probably know there just a few of them and you probably will know who did it. Yeah, of course I know who did it, but I won't tell anyone.

more words

My blog is very wordy. I don't know why and I don't intend to change the words.

Oh, the ultra-portable in the previous post hasn't been fixed. I can't be bothered with it anymore. Maybe I will use the warranty soon to get it fixed. It will be such waste of time to fix it now.

Anyway, in an hour's time, the F1 cars will starting rolling on the Marina Bay Track. I am going to watch it this weekend - on my TV. No point buying anything like a ticket or booking a room. TV rocks my (clean) socks. Who's going to win? eh. After Schumacher left 3 seasons ago, I had no one else to support. -.- Perhaps Lewis "Catch Him" Hamilton. Perhaps Massa. Just perhaps. Yeah, I admit I am one of those who follow the crowd. But I don't care.

I know this is wols but for prelims, I got 4 H2 As and an E for General Paper. E for GP is means you are a noob. NOOB. Which I am. My powderful Engrish is my downfall. Well, actually I don't know. It's just a damn problematic essay + a lousy compre. This result is called an anolamy. OK?! (Oh, A was a mere 62 marks, which is like only 10 marks away.) So how my Maths from a D became an A? I'm not sure. But I do have a theory: moderation based on past results. My friend has another theory: Moderation based on selected questions. Since there's no way to find out which one is true, I guess it's up to speculation. In any case, I'm glad I have another A. So I should be happy with my results? Yeah right. Hell no. My GP is noob ok. Forget the rest. If the GP is noob, there's no need to consider the rest.

I guess this is it. More words.

You want picture is it? Fine.
